The Coach-Train method
Coach. Train.
For over twenty years I’ve coached and trained thousands of people, of every age, in every kind of setting. Teaching people how to teach. Developing leaders. Building teams. Coaching people to communicate well.
What that range has taught me is this: sometimes a team needs skills training, because the confidence is there but the specific ability isn’t. And sometimes they need coaching, because the skill is already there and they’re just in their own way.
Someone once asked me, are you a coach or are you a trainer? I’m both. That’s what makes the work I do with organisations so effective. I can tell, in the room, who needs training, who needs coaching, and who needs both. Some people already have the ability and the motivation, and the job there is simply to keep them there.
An organisation, a manager, a team, and the individuals in that team rarely need exactly the same thing at the same time. What I’m good at is seeing all of that at once, and bringing it together.
